Turn Off Auto-Sound For Videos On Facebook now: Recently, Paul on Facebook asked me how he could turn off Auto-Sound For Videos On Facebook.
Well, a while back, Facebook made it so that videos in your news feed would play automatically.
It was awful. In this post, we shall be sharing with you how you can turn Off this auto-sound for videos on Facebook on your own without stress.
Okay, let’s begin like this, thankfully, Facebook gave users a way to turn off auto-play for videos. It was a terrible idea to have videos play automatically and now Facebook is going to one-up that idea.
A new feature is rolling out to users that will auto-play videos with sound.
Before this feature was added, users had to tap a video to get sound. Now, videos will play automatically with sound. It will be awful.
Thankfully, users have the option to turn off auto-sound for videos on Facebook. Here’s how.
This new feature is being rolled out to users slowly. If the videos in your news feed don’t play sound automatically, you haven’t received the update.
If you haven’t received the update, the option to turn off auto-sound for videos on Facebook will not be available.
Open the Facebook app on your iPhone or Android phone. Tap the More button at the bottom right of the screen on your iPhone.
On Android, the More button is at the top right.
On iOS Scroll down on the next screen and tap ‘Settings’.
Select ‘Account Settings’. On Android, you will see the ‘Account Settings’ option in the main menu. Tap it.
On iOS, tap ‘Sounds’ and turn off the ‘Videos in News Feed Start With Sound’ option.
On Android, look for the ‘Videos in News Feed Start With Sound’ option on the ‘Account Settings’ screen and turn it off.
That’s about it. Facebook really, really, wants you to watch videos but this is a bit too much. I have, on occasion, accidentally tapped a video while scrolling through my news feed in the dead of the night.
The sound, of course, woke up my roommate. Imagine the videos now just playing with sound unless you explicitly turn it Off; Facebook needs to stop it with these ‘features’.
