When visitors click "like" on your company's Facebook page, all their friends can see that they've done so. If your Facebook page looks compelling enough, these friends could be convinced to "like" it themselves.

And so it could go on, allowing you to potentially reach millions, if not billions of customers. Once Facebook users have "liked" your page, they'll receive updates whenever you post something to your timeline, allowing you to get your message out to a huge number of people.

Create Your Page
Firstly, you will need to create a visually compelling Facebook page for your business. If you don't have the time or expertise to do this yourself, hire a social media consultant to help you get things right. You can click here to see how to create a sound business Facebook page.

Regularly update your page with content that's likely to appeal to your target audience.

Visitors to your site will be less compelled to "like" what they see if they're confronted with old content that's not relevant to them.

Advertise on Facebook
Buy advertising on Facebook to attract visitors to your page. You can choose the age, location and interests of the Facebook users you want to attract and only pay when they click-through to your page.

You can put a limit on how much you're willing to spend if you're worried about costs getting out of control.

Make "liking" your page a more attractive proposition by entering people that do so into a competition or allowing them access to exclusive content on your firm's profile.

The "Like" Button
If you have your own website, visit Facebook's "Like Button" page and create a button to incorporate on your homepage. This will allow visitors to "like" your site without having to leave it, as long as they're logged into their Facebook account.

You'll require basic HTML skills to do this so you may need to speak to your programmer or the person who looks after your website if this is beyond you.

Leverage
Link through to your Facebook page from your company's other social media platforms. You also can include your Facebook page's web address in your traditional print, television, outdoor and radio advertising and add it to the packaging of the products you sell.

Again, give people an incentive to visit your page and "like" it. Perhaps offer visitors who are willing to "like" you a discount voucher.
