Did you know that you can get alerts on you Facebook notifications or on your email whenever there is a login to your account from any unknown location or unrecognized device. You can improve the security of your Facebook account by getting an alert when someone tries logging in from a device or web browser that is not recognized by Facebook or in other words has not been used before to login to your account . These alerts will tell you which device tried logging in and where it’s located.
IF YOU ARE USING A COMPUTER:
- Go to your any browser of your choice and enter the Facebook address https://web.facebook.com and enter.
- If you’ve previously logged into your account using this computer, your facebook account automatically opens to your news feed. If not, you will be required to sign in.
- Sign in using the email you used to sign up and the password you created during registration.
- Go to your Security and Login Settings by clicking 🔻 in the top-right corner of Facebook and clicking Settings.
- Click Security and Login on the left.
- Go to Get alerts about unrecognized logins and click Edit.
- Choose where you want to receive your alerts, such as from your email account or with a Facebook notification from a recognized device.
- Click Save Changes.
Note : If you are using a mobile phone browser to access Facebook, you’ll need to follow steps 1 to 3 of using a computer. After which you can follow the next steps:
- Scroll to the bottom of the your Facebook news feed. You’ll find Settings & Privacy below the Facebook search bar at the bottom.
- Click on Settings & Privacy, this takes you to another page on which you will find Security and Login. Click on it.
- On the next page, click on Get alerts about unrecognized logins and click Edit.
- Choose where you want to receive your alerts, such as from your email account or with a Facebook notification from a recognized device.
- Click Save Changes.
But if you are using your mobile Android app:
- Tap the Facebook app icon from your phone’s menu and login to your Facebook account Though a login won’t be required if you’ve logged in previously.
- Tap the 3 parallel bar(three lines) icon at the top.
- Scroll to the bottom of the menu and tap Settings & Privacy, then after that, Settings and finally you see Security and Login. Click on it.
- Tap Get alerts about unrecognized logins.
- Choose where you want to receive your alerts, such as your email account or with a Facebook notification from a recognized device.
- When you receive a login alert, you can tell Facebook if you recognize the login activity by clicking or tapping This was me option which will be given in the alert.
- If you don’t recognize the login activity, click or tap This wasn’t me and Facebook will help you reset your password and secure your account.
- You can save a device or browser to your list of trusted browsers or recognized devices. This way, you won’t get alerts about the computer or mobile device you usually use to log into Facebook. Don’t choose this option if you’re using a public computer (such as one in a library or cafe).
